One of the biggest lies I used to believe as a parent was this:

“I don’t have enough time.”

Not enough time to play.
Not enough time to slow down.
Not enough time to really be present.

And to be fair—life is busy.

Work, responsibilities, everything pulling at you…

It adds up fast.

But I’ve started noticing something.

Some of the most meaningful moments I’ve had with my kids…

Didn’t take hours.

They took minutes.

Five minutes of actually listening.
Five minutes of putting the phone down.
Five minutes of stepping into their world instead of staying in mine.

That’s it.

And to them?

It’s not “just five minutes.”

It’s everything.

Because in that moment, they have your full attention.

No distractions.
No rushing.
No “hold on a second.”

Just you.

And I think that’s where I got it wrong for a long time.

I thought I needed more time to be a better dad.

But what I really needed…

Was to use the time I already had differently.

Because five minutes—done right—

Can turn into a moment they remember forever.
