Harper's Story
Harper was born on January 10, 2014. From her first moments, she fought to be here — her lungs were weak, and doctors and nurses worked quickly to help her hold on. She did.
A few weeks later, a small red birthmark appeared on her lip. Her father called it a kiss from an angel. Doctors expected it to fade with treatment over time.
Months passed, and life felt complete. Harper and her two older brothers made their family whole. Then, during a routine appointment for one of her brothers, a doctor noticed Harper was missing developmental milestones. Testing followed. The results showed Harper had Sandhoff disease, a rare and incurable genetic disorder that affects the nervous system.
Harper's family made a promise in that moment: to give her the happiest life possible, and to hold their family together through whatever came next.
On Harper's first birthday, her grandfather gave her a bouquet of pink roses. When asked why he'd give flowers to a one-year-old, he said simply, "Every girl deserves to receive beautiful flowers." That sentence would later become the seed of an idea — because flowers fade, but a tiara, like Harper, could sparkle and last.
Harper passed away on January 2, 2016, at 720 days old, eight days shy of her second birthday. She was surrounded by her family.
Why Tiara4Harper Exists
For every tiara purchased, Tiara4Harper donates a toddler-size tiara to a child facing a hospital stay or serious illness. Choosing to Gift a Tiara in Harper's honor sends two tiaras instead of one — a toddler-size and a full-size — reaching two children instead of just one. Children's Mercy Kansas City, the hospital that cared for Harper throughout her life, was the first to receive a donation in her honor, and that relationship continues today through the Tiara4Harper giving program.
Every tiara sold is more than a purchase. It's a small, sparkling piece of Harper's legacy, placed in the hands of another child who needs to feel seen.
